We know that Google makes daily changes to the algorithms, but most of them are merely small tweaks.
This update however, was a major one and could have had an impact on your overall page ranks.
Google usually tends to keep most of the information quiet, but Google’s search liaison Danny Sullivan was rather talkative in March.
He basically said that several broad core algorithm updates are released per year.
The main function of the changes to search are related to improving the search engine’s capacity to identify high-quality pages.
From the different websites of clients we work with, we really saw this come to life.
Websites which – in our opinion – were ranking too high for what they are worth dropped in ranking.
These were mainly sites that also do not receive regular updates.
On the other hand, websites of clients with high-quality pages got rewarded and won on average 3 to 4 positions in the SERPs (search engine results pages).
This might have been pure coincidence, but there seems to be a certain pattern.
If you noticed a significant drop in your rankings, then let me know in the comments.
